What’s your background?

I was born and raised in Alexandria/Egypt and moved to Germany in 2012 to study art in Hochschule fuer bildende Kuenste Hamburg HfBK and since I am living and working as an independant Artist and Filmmaker between Cairo and Berlin.

What influences you artistically?

I am mostly influenced by conspiracy theories reality TV shows experimental films true crimes grandmothers and ghost stories.

How do you start a new work?

A starting point for me can be anything random that I build on through creating mood boards can be an encounter a conversation a text message an image.

What are you working on right now?

I am working on a feature film that formally engages with body horror and science fiction exploring female monstrous humanoids from the Arabic storytelling traditions in general that made it to the Egyptian urban mythology in particular.
