Alyona Larionova (b. 1988, Moscow) is an artist and filmmaker based in London. Her works investigate weighty subjects (technology, storytelling, linguistics) and locations (Internet Archive, a conservation lab, a bankrupted city). The tension between order and chaos, and the rapid changes in technological and natural spheres occurring in the world, are what propel her research forward. Since 2015, she has been developing a series of works that call into question our approach to storytelling as well as our obsession with certain narratives that for too long have been and still are presenting us with the debased version of the world. Recent exhibitions and screenings include participation in European Identities, New Geographies in Artists’ Film and Video at Le Murate; Kasseler Dokfest; POWER HOUSE: Structures of Power at PYLON-Lab; 22nd Antimatter Media Art Festival and a screening at Sharjah Art Foundation.
