Julia König’s work addresses the technologized and economized conditions that shape living beings and the environment.
Julia König practice encompasses performance, installation and video. Artificial decay, ritualized movements, limited access – transformative and time-based qualities are often found in Königs work. Mixing personal accounts with generic content, she creates settings which reach out to the sensual perception of the viewer. Her approach is playful as well as narrative, scattering traces and remains, open to be tracked.
Julia König graduated from the University of Arts Berlin (w/ S. Zielinski, L. Hentschel) and Academy for Media Arts Cologne (w/ P. Collins, J. Wohnseifer, M. You). Her work was shown at Townhouse Gallery Cairo, HAU Berlin, Mutek Festival Montreal, Institute for Contemporary Art Singapore, kestner gesellschaft Hannover, CCCB Barcelona. She is a founding member of the exhibition collective team titanic.
